CLUB ACTIVITIES

The Liberty Kiwanis Club is proud to present three $750 college scholarships to three deserving Key Club members.  We chose these students based on their community involvement, Key Club volunteerism, and excellent grade point averages.  The winners are Brittany Hammer, Mike Ryan, & Abbi Sandweiss.

  • Brittany Hammer has been a member of the Liberty High school Key Club all of her high school career, serving as treasurer her senior year.  Brittany is also a founding member of the South Valley Junior High School Builders Club.  She plans on attending Missouri State and majoring in nursing. She wants to start a Circle K at her new school!

  • Mike Ryan has been a dedicated Key Club & Builders Club member.  He helped to start the Builders Club at his junior high and continued to serve the community for all 3 years of high school.  He plans to attend Purdue and major in Construction Engineering.

  • Abbi Sandweiss is a 2 year member of Key Club.  She helped with all of our major projects, amassing over 50 service hours in her senior year alone.  She is also a member of National Honor Society and both the soccer & tennis teams.  Abbi will be attending the University of Missouri and majoring in elementary education.  She wants to be a Kindergarten teacher.

The South Platte Kiwanis Club presented 2010 scholarship awards at Kendallwood Manor on March 17th.  The two outstanding students and their parents were guests for dinner and a brief program during which the students talked about their goals and shared some highlights about their high school careers.   The two $1000 scholarships were presented to Jennifer Metzger of Park Hill High School and Alyson Low of  West Platte R-2 High School.
Jennifer Metzger, the daughter of Jack and Jane Metzger, plans to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia to study Business and Journalism.  Her many school activities include Marching and Symphonic Bands, as well as the school's Jazz Band. She graduated first in the Class of  2010. She also found time for lots of volunteering during her years at Park Hill.
Alyson Low, daughter of Scott and Michele Low, plans to attend William Jewell College in Liberty where she will prepare for Nursing and Pre-Med. This KCI Scholar Athlete for 2008-2009 also was active in Debate and Science Club, along with many volunteer projects and holding down a job.  Alyson placed fourth in her graduating class.
South Platte Kiwanis Club is proud to be able to honor these two outstanding students
